Teeth whItenIng

The way to connect to the world is through bright smiles. Healthy and white teeth are an important part of aesthetic appearance and some people might need a medical intervention for that. Teeth whitening is a procedure that has grown in popularity in recent years, is one of them.

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure for having healthier smiles. Teeth change color due to external or internal factors. When enough attention is not paid to oral hygiene, it might result in discolored teeth. Smoking, and consuming too much tea and coffee are also other reasons for discolored teeth. Whitening is a process that involves lightening the colors of discolored teeth using bleaching products. The goal of this procedure is to lighten the stains on the teeth and make the teeth look whiter.

Who can prefer teeth whitening procedure?
Anyone can undergo a teeth-whitening procedure, provided they do not have any gum disease or dental conditions that could interfere with the procedure; however, a dentist examination is necessary before the procedure. Those with advanced cavities and gum disease should have the whitening process applied after having their treatment done by a dentist. Moreover, the procedure is not recommended for people who are still in growth and development age, pregnant women, or breastfeeding mothers.

What are the benefits of teeth whitening procedure?

Many people think that teeth whitening is only about having a dental procedure, but it is not. The benefits of teeth whitening are more than you can imagine. Here are some:

  • Whiter teeth will help you boost your confidence. Knowing that you have a beautiful smile will encourage you in your professional and social environment.

  • Teeth whitening does not change the natural color of your teeth, it only removes the stains that are accumulated on teeth.

  • Teeth whitening offers you a long-term solution. The whiteness of the teeth lasts for months or even for years, depending on the oral hygiene.

  • Compared to other dental interventions, teeth whitening is a non-invasive and quick dental procedure. That is why it is one of the most popular choices for those who want to have healthier and better-looking teeth.

Preparation before teeth whitening procedure

In the thigh lift surgery, surgeons remove the excess skin and fat and this procedure is applied in patients who have minor and high excess skin differently.

For patients who have minor excess skin, the skin is first removed and then stretched. When it comes to patients who have higher amounts of excess skin, the surgeons do this operation together with liposuction.

  • The patients should think well and decide about the dentist who is performing the procedure.

  • Strong communication is important before the procedure, so keep in touch with your dentist.

  • Talking to people who had this procedure before can be helpful for you to prepare better.

  • You should research the average cost of the procedure and find the right dentist that fits your budget.

How is the teeth whitening procedure performed?

Whitening is performed by an expert dentist at their office. Before the whitening treatment, the patient is cleaned of tartar. To protect the gum, it is covered with a protective barrier. The whitening gel is applied to the teeth. Finally, the treatment is completed by applying light to the teeth in two or three sessions. Each session takes approximately 15 minutes. With these methods, the main color tone of the teeth is lightened by a few tones, and the yellowing and discoloration on the teeth are eliminated.

Recovery after teeth whitening procedure

After the whitening, there may be invisible microcracks on the teeth. In such cases, patients may feel very little sensitivity. That sensitivity is mostly temporary and disappears within 24 hours. It is recommended to consume only white foods such as rice, chicken, baked foods, and yogurt for 48 hours. Patients should avoid consuming foods that easily discolor teeth, such as cigarettes, tea, and coffee. Whitened teeth maintain their whiteness for at least 1 year, but the period might be longer or shorter based on the eating habits and oral hygiene of patients.
